As an update to our announcement on April 29, 2024, Kohner, Mann & Kailas, S.C., is delighted to report that KMK Attorney Ryan M. Billings will be sworn in as President of the State Bar of Wisconsin during the State Bar’s Annual Conference on June 19, 2024, with a term of office to begin July 1, 2024.
Normally, the winner of the election for President-Elect serves a one-year term beginning July 1 of the year in which they are elected, and takes office as President on July 1 of the following year. However, then-current President-Elect Jane Bucher was recently appointed by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers to serve as the Judge (Branch 2) in the Circuit Court of Green County, Wisconsin. This left a vacancy in the President-Elect position. At a Special Meeting of the State Bar Board of Governors on May 7, 2024, Ryan Billings was unanimously chosen to fill the position of current President-Elect, and to take office as President on July 1, 2024, a year ahead of schedule.
As a seasoned litigator trained to adapt to the unexpected, Mr. Billings welcomes the opportunity to assume the role of President earlier than expected, and to help the Bar advance its core mission and serve the more than 25,000 Wisconsin-licensed lawyers who are members of the Bar. Read more here.
KMK wishes Ryan Billings the best of luck in his sooner-than-anticipated Presidency!
