Kohner, Mann & Kailas, S.C. Helps to Provide Practical Support to Wisconsin Entrepreneurs
Kohner, Mann & Kailas (KMK) is again both sponsoring and providing expertise to support the annual Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest for 2013.
In addition to sponsorship funding, KMK Attorney Stephen Taylor will once again be a member of the panel of judges throughout the competition while shareholder and business attorney Alexander “Sandie” Pendleton serves on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Technology Council, the organization that organizes the event.
Now in its tenth year, the Governor’s Business Plan Contest is designed to provide Wisconsin-based entrepreneurs with training in, and practical experience of the process of developing and presenting business propositions through written and oral presentations to potential investors and partners. Those of the 296 entrants that make it to the finals in June have the opportunity to win monetary and cash-in-kind support. Contestants also secure media access and direct exposure to potential partners and investors during the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference, of which the live final presentations, judging and awards ceremony form an integral part.
The Wisconsin Technology Council is the science and technology advisor to the Wisconsin Governor and Legislature. Launched in 2001, the Tech Council was created by a bipartisan act of the governor and the Legislature. It is an independent, non-profit and non-partisan board with members from tech companies, venture capital firms, at all levels of education, research institutions, government and law.
KMK Shareholder and business attorney Alexander “Sandie” Pendleton has served on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Technology Council since its founding. He has provided business and corporate counsel to emerging Wisconsin companies and entrepreneurs for many years. Stephen Taylor is a former venture capitalist and entrepreneur who is now a lawyer with KMK focusing on international business and electronic information.
